When you're up to your neck in alligators

Friends, I've been away for quite awhile. The longer I've been away, the harder it's been to come back. You know how that goes.  The empty page stares back at me, and I stare right back at it.
It's almost as if there's too much  to say, and it's too hard to start.  Where do I begin?  It's just like trying to make up with a friend whose feelings you have hurt.  And it doesn't get any better with each passing day. It just grows and grows. And, after awhile, there's a vast chasm where there once was a warm and easy relationship.
So, here we are, beginning again, to talk about things, a bit awkwardly, but knowing that once we start, it will become easier. The distances between friends can be bridged by love and forgiveness.
Now read the above in light of our busy lives. How many other relationships does it apply to? Think today about how easy it is to slip away from others. Yet, if you are willing to take me back and give me more chances to offer something to our relationship, others are probably willing to take you back when you reach out again to them, too.
Praise our Faithful, loving Lord for his abundant and compassionate heart for being the One who has continually welcomes us back. We don't have to be Prodigals to be distracted, busy, overworked, tired, weary, or to have writers' block. His arms are open to us all.
